Update: April 18 (Covers April 9–10 & April 16–17, 2025 sessions)
Over two sets of bargaining sessions in April, the UNAC/UHCP CRNA bargaining team continued negotiations with Kaiser Permanente to secure a strong first contract.
April 9–10 | Sacramento
We met with management in Sacramento, where the employer reintroduced a previous supposal—this time as a formal proposal. This version included previously TA’d (tentatively agreed) language, though it remains unclear whether the employer is seeking to reopen or renegotiate that language.
In addition, management introduced a new proposal defining employment status, despite already having an outstanding proposal on the same topic. As a result, they withdrew their original proposal, replacing it with this revised version.
Our bargaining team is carefully reviewing management’s proposals and continues to develop counters in response.
April 16–17 | Oakland
We reconvened in Oakland, where our team presented an 8-page proposal on Leaves of Absence on April 16. The rest of the day was spent allowing management to review the proposal in detail.
On April 17, we engaged in several hours of discussion with management to walk through the proposal and answer questions, ensuring clarity on our intent and the importance of adequate leave protections for CRNAs.
What’s Next
Our next bargaining sessions are scheduled for April 29 and 30 in San Jose.
Thank you for your continued support and engagement throughout this process. We encourage all members to attend as observers—your presence strengthens our position and reinforces the importance of the work we’re doing together.
Update: March 19, 2025
Bargaining Dates
We proposed a set of dates to keep us on track at the table through August. Management has yet to respond.
A Day of Proposals
Seniority and Job Bidding and Posting: We went back and forth with management on Seniority and Job Bidding and Posting. Management has our latest set of counterproposals.
Bargaining Unit Work: We have a counter from management on Bargaining Unit Work.
A Proposal Withdrawn
Management also proposed changes to the Definitions of Employment Status section. But we had agreed to place this topic on hold due to its economic implications. Once management realized this, their negotiators promptly withdrew the new proposal.
