UNAC/UHCP and Kaiser Permanente have signed an agreement for extra shift incentive pay that will be in effect from 7:00 a.m. on July 3, 2020 until 7:00 a.m. on July 31, 2020.
The extra shift incentive will be available to registered nurses, nurse practitioners and physician assistants to work in medical center med-surg/tele, med-surg, telemetry, ICU, DOU, Maternal-Child Health (L&D and FCC), Peds/PICU/NICU units, PACU, OR, ASU/ASC, Urgent Care Centers and the Emergency Department caring for patients.
RNs, NPs and PAs who sign up for and are needed to work additional shifts, for which they are not regularly scheduled, will be eligible to receive an incentive payment for each additional shift worked as follows:
- $150 for each additional 8-hour shift
- $200 for each additional 10-hour shift
- $250 for each additional 12-hour shift
The extra shift incentive is in addition to applicable overtime and differential provisions as may be required by law and/or as set forth in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Additional Information
-An additional shift is defined as hours beyond your FTE status (e.g., in excess of 36 hours for a 0.9 FTE).
– If the employee calls in sick or takes an educational day for one of their regularly scheduled shifts in a week where they are also scheduled to work an incentivized extra shift, they will no longer be eligible for the incentive.
-Once a registered nurse’s extra shift has been confirmed on the schedule, the RN cannot be cancelled but may be floated to another inpatient unit for which they are qualified and competent to float; once a nurse practitioner or physician assistant’s extra shift has been confirmed on the schedule, the NP/PA cannot be cancelled and will work in their assigned unit unless they voluntarily accept work in another department/unit for which they are qualified and competent.
