A union may not regulate the contents of campaign literature it is asked to distribute and may not require that it be permitted to read the literature before distribution. The union may not censor campaign literature in any way, even if the literature includes derogatory remarks about other candidates. A union’s contention that mailing certain campaign literature may constitute libel does not justify a refusal to distribute the literature since the union is under a legal duty to distribute the material.

Wendy Burrell

For Co-Chair RN Staff

Fellow Professionals and Nurses

I am currently seeking your support in retaining the position of Co-Chair of FVPA.

My commitment to FVPA began in 1985 when I attended a meeting to organize the nurses at the hospital. From 1985-1991, there were legal battles and uncertainty but I am proud to say I was a part of the arduous journey to form FVPA. The first contract was ratified in 1993 and I have been a participant of each negotiating team since. In 1994, I became an officer for FVPA. I have served in every role except Parliamentarian. Between 1993-2000, the affiliate consisted of 100 due paying members out of 1000. Those years taught me perseverance, loyalty and dedication.

My work for you reaches beyond our affiliate. In order to keep our presence strong at the state level, I have served on the state finance committee, worked on the amendments for state convention, attend the executive council meetings and now serve on the Board of Directors.

If re-elected, I would continue to invest and commit myself to your needs as well as the needs of FVPA.

Gloria Teo

For Secretary

Hello my name is Gloria Teo, and I am currently your secretary for the Fountain Valley Professional Association. I am running for reelection and am seeking your vote. A brief history about myself, I have worked at Fountain Valley hospital for 32 years, prior to when our hospital was a union organization, I witnessed and played a part in the unionization of our hospital. I am a labor and delivery nurse and have worked on that unit for the last 28 years, prior to that I worked on the medical-surgical floor where I began my nursing career. I have been elected and held the role of Fountain Valley Professional Association secretary for the last 11 years. I have worked hard in my role as your secretary, fighting for safe and fair working conditions and representing employees in unfair and unjust disciplines. I have been on the contract negotiating team for our last three union contracts. We are currently in contract negotiations for our upcoming contract, and I passionately believe that my contract negotiation knowledge will help move us forward to an even stronger contract. I look forward to being reelected and serving as your secretary.
