Women’s Health Care Screening Guidelines & More

Presented by Nancy A. Rouse, DNP, CNM, RN

Date: On-demand, August 1-August 31, 2020
CE: 2 hours

Course Description*
Many women come to my office insisting that their previous visit with another provider included a pap smear demanding the results.  Upon reviewing the notes with the patient it becomes very clear that even in very educated women, there is a knowledge deficit of what an actual gynecologic exam is and what tests are performed, when, and why.  This course seeks to educate on the many facets of a gynecologic exam.  Office exams and screening guidelines have changed over the past years.  We will review the current recommendations by age group.

We will explore and dispel the rumors surrounding the use of non-hormonal and hormonal contraception and review the non-contraceptive benefits of these methods.

Finally, Vitamin D has been advertised as playing a significant role in women’s health including providing extra protection for fighting off illness. This course will briefly examine the current evidence with regard to this claim.

* Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing. Provider Number 1162, for 2 contact hours. No partial credit. Viewing of entire recording and completion of evaluation is required for credit.
