UNAC/UHCP and AFSCME Join Legal Action To Safeguard Federal COVID-19 Protections
Prompted by federal government plans to curb the emergency temporary standard (ETS) for protecting health care workers from COVID-19, UNAC/UHCP and AFSCME are asking for COVID safety standards to not only continue but be made permanent.
In a lawsuit filed Wednesday in federal court, several unions urged the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to continue the standards for health care employers that the agency issued in June.
The standards, which apply to areas where COVID-19 patients are treated, created safety rules for employers for requirements related to personal protective equipment (PPE), paid leave for vaccinations, and physical distancing.
We know that as the surges continue, our members and patients must receive the highest level of protection.
