By virtue of being a UNAC/UHCP member, you’re entitled to hundreds of benefits, including scholarships, free continuing education, legal assistance, discounts, and much more.

Scholarships
Several scholarship programs are available for UNAC/UHCP members and their children who are interested in pursuing degrees or certifications in health care.

Carina Childcare App
Need child care now? UNAC/UHCP has partnered with Carina Cares to match families with licensed child care providers who have openings. Log onto your Memberlink portal to learn more. 

Continuing Education
In keeping with our professional development policies, UNAC/UHCP provides selected clinical subject courses as well as courses in labor-management relations. Our Continuing Education (CE) seminars feature prominent lecturers for moderate fees charged to members and a somewhat higher fee to nonmembers.

Life Insurance
After you are a member for six (6) months, a $1,750 Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance policy is included with your membership.

Retirement Bonus
A one-time payment of $500 is given to any member who retires and had been a UNAC/UHCP member for the past five (5) years prior to retirement. Click here for more information. UNAC/UHCP will also continue to pay your Life and AD&D Insurance until the age of 75.

Legal Representation Expense Reimbursement for UNAC/UHCP Members
Upon completion of a written application by a UNAC/UHCP member, UNAC/UHCP may approve reimbursement of qualified expenses incurred as a result of a formal accusation, investigation notice, or formal settlement discussions and/or agreement with a California Healing Arts Board for the board governing the member’s healing arts licenses. To find out how to apply and learn about limits and exclusions, contact your UNAC/UHCP staff representative. The written application needs to proceed incurring the expense.

A highly qualified staff is available to assist you in all matters of collective bargaining and representation.

Legal Assistance
UNAC/UHCP has an internal Legal Department committed to providing high-quality representation to members, local affiliates, and UNAC/UHCP on labor law issues.

AFSCME

AFSCME Family Scholarship
Each year the AFSCME Family Scholarship Program provides at least 10 $2,000 scholarships to high school seniors that will be renewed each year for a maximum of four years.

AFSCME Debit Card
An alternative to a traditional credit card with members-only benefits. No credit or employment check when applying. And you don’t need an existing bank account for approval.

Energy Efficient Rebates
Take advantage of these new programs to help AFSCME members and their families save energy, and save money, too.

Union Plus is brought to you by Union Privilege, established by the AFL-CIO, to provide consumer benefits to members and retirees of participating labor unions. Union Plus offers many products and services, including travel discounts on hotels, car rental and more. UNAC/UHCP members may access benefits on the Union Plus website by entering in “AFSCME” as their union.
