UNAC/UHCP works to ensure that the voices of frontline healthcare professionals are heard in today’s headlines. From speaking out on patient care and staffing shortages to standing up for equity and workplace rights, our union regularly appears in local and national media. Our members drive the quality of our media outreach. At UNAC/UHCP, we focus on storytelling with award-winning results:

  • 2024: 5 awards from the International Labor Communications Association (ILCA), recognizing excellence in labor communications:
    • First Place – Best Organic/Owned Social Media Live Event Coverage: TikTok video covering the Kaiser Permanente San Diego picket.
    • Second Place – Best in Labor Multi-Media Campaign: Comprehensive campaign on the St. Francis strike, which included traditional media, social media, and other outreach efforts.
    • Second Place – Best Organic/Owned Social Media Post Overall: Compelling videos highlighting nurse staffing shortages at Kaiser Permanente San Diego.
    • Third Place – Best Short Form Video Under 7 Minutes: Video featuring a patient’s perspective during the St. Francis strike.
    • Third Place – Best Design Single Website Page: Design of the SRS United microsite.
  • 2023: two first-place awards from the International Labor Communications Association (ILCA):
    • Best Multimedia Campaign for work highlighting the union’s organizing of Kaiser dietitians, audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and health educators (DASH).
    • Best Use of Electronic Media: Longform Video for the 50th-anniversary documentary Building Power Through the Decades.
  • 2022:
    • First Place International Labor Communications Association (ILCA): Best Use of Earned Media-Local/Regional/State for Kaiser campaign, Invest in Patient Care
    • honorable mention in PR Daily’s Content Marketing Awards in the Strategy of the Year category for the Kaiser campaign, Invest in Patient Care.
