Bargaining Representative Responsibilities
• The primary responsibility of a Bargaining Representative is to negotiate a contract in good faith based on the needs and interests of the therapists in the NCAL Region
• Attend negotiating sessions as well as Union internal caucuses or meetings
• Keep the membership informed and educated about the negotiations and the process
• Present the interests of therapists that are being represented, even if they differ from personal interests
• Coordinate with the Contract Action Team, working groups, and other activists on a strategic plan to win a strong contract that can be recommended for ratification
• Committee members should assume that the time commitment will be significant, some sessions will go late into the evening
Time Commitment
• Bargaining Sessions are typically scheduled 2 days per week on alternating weeks
• Union preparatory meetings and calls may be scheduled on evenings and weekends
