UNAC/UHCP continues to push for COVID protections. Our voices have been a key part of the efforts to restore COVID paid leave. On Jan. 13, UNAC/UHCP leader Jeffrey Nuguid, RN, co-chair at Fountain Valley, joined a group of essential workers on a Zoom press briefing about the urgent need to restore COVID supplemental paid sick leave in California.
On Jan. 25, California state leaders committed to bringing COVID leave back, retroactive to Jan. 1. This commitment to extend pandemic-related leave will protect the health care community as well as the patients receiving care.
UNAC/UHCP is thankful for the advocacy of members who asked us to fight for additional leave. UNAC/UHCP Political and Legislative Director Eric Robles took up the cause and successfully carried members’ voices to the Governor’s Office and the legislature.
We will continue our efforts at the bargaining table to strengthen COVID protections.
