Bio – Francesca Sanford
| I began my nursing career at Sharp Memorial Hospital in 1984 as a Nursing Assistant, later advancing to LVN and ultimately earning my RN, BSN. Throughout my journey, I have remained passionate about bedside nursing and gained experience across multiple disciplines, finding Trauma and Stroke care especially rewarding. Currently, I work in the Short Stay Observation Unit at SMH, providing direct patient care for a wide range of diagnoses and embrace the professional challenges that help me grow.
A proud Union member since the beginning of my career, I have always supported my colleagues and our profession. My involvement deepened during the COVID pandemic, when I became more active in advocacy volunteering to go on Union Leave and help 2022 campaign efforts. I was honored to serve as SMH Co-Chair in 2022 and as Vice President since 2023, contributing to the bargaining team in both 2022 and the current 2025 negotiations. I am humbled by the trust my coworkers have placed in me to continue serving and advocating on their behalf. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family—including my furry babies—traveling, and exploring cultures and traditions, especially through food. |
