Bio – Emily Mmeje

My name is Emily Mmeje, and I am honored to run for Union Hospital President to represent more than 600 dedicated professional nurses. For 25 years, I have proudly served at Kaiser Permanente, with the past 13 years as a charge RN in Family Centered Care at West Los Angeles.

As a nurse leader and co-lead of our LMP/UBT team, I have worked to strengthen collaboration, improve patient care, and ensure nurses’ voices shape the decisions that affect us most. For over 9 years, I’ve also served as a Union Steward, and during the pandemic, I stood by my colleagues as a contract specialist, fighting to protect and support our frontline nurses.

I believe in equality, fairness, and inclusiveness. As your Hospital President, I will be a strong voice for every member, continue building unity, and ensure our union remains powerful, respected, and responsive. Together, we can create meaningful change and a stronger future for all.
