Bio – Michelle Curtis-Ussery
| My name is Michelle Curtis-Ussery, DNP. I currently serve as Secretary for the Southern California Nurse Staff Council (SCNSC) and as a Staff Educator at Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles. I’ve proudly worked at Kaiser for 29 years, beginning as an LVN and advancing to earn my ASN, BSN, MSN, and DNP—made possible through union-negotiated education benefits. I was one of the original negotiators who successfully accreted Staff Educators into the SCNSC contract 2013. Over the years, I’ve served as Steward, VPLAMC, Secretary, and Alliance Partnership Representative (APR). I have held leadership roles on the LMP Council and Education Committee as Tri-Chair for the Alliance at LAMC. My experience includes active participation in the 2018 Collective Bargaining Agreement and the current 2025 negotiations, where I’ve fought hard to secure meaningful improvements for our members. I approach bargaining with tenacity, strategy, and a deep commitment to equity. Serving as Secretary has strengthened my understanding of union processes and deepened my dedication to advocacy. I am ready to continue representing our members with integrity, transparency, and relentless determination. |
