UNAC/UHCP Celebrates Grand Opening of New Union Headquarters
in the City of Industry
CITY OF INDUSTRY, CA — The United Nurses Associations of California/Union of Health Care Professionals (UNAC/UHCP) today celebrated a historic milestone with the official grand opening of its new stand-alone headquarters, located 13101 Crossroads Parkway, City of Industry, CA.
The event brought together UNAC/UHCP members, families, community partners, and distinguished elected officials, including:
- Tony Thurmond, California State Superintendent of Public Instruction
- Antonio Villaraigosa, former Mayor of Los Angeles
- Congressman Jimmy Gomez
- Congressman Gil Cisneros (representing the district where the new headquarters resides)
- Assemblymembers Jessica Caloza and Mark Gonzalez
- Michael Greubel, Mayor Pro Tem of the City of Industry
President Charmaine S. Morales, RN, welcomed guests to a celebration that fulfills a broader purpose:
“Together, we dedicate this building to the mission of UNAC/UHCP, to our members, to our patients, and to the future of health care.”
The union has evolved from humble beginnings to a powerhouse with tens of thousands of members in California and Hawaii. This building isn’t a symbol of luxury. It’s a symbol of capacity. It represents readiness, strength, and the future of our work.
Mayor Pro Tem Michael Greubel delivered greetings on behalf of the City of Industry and presented UNAC/UHCP with a Certificate of Recognition, officially welcoming the union to its new home.
UNAC/UHCP formally dedicated the Kathy J. Sackman Auditorium, honoring one of our founders and former UNAC/UHCP presidents, Kathy J. Sackman, RN. Her leadership and vision helped shape the union’s modern era. Kathy Sackman, who served as president of UNAC/UHCP for more than 30 years, died in 2021.
The ceremony concluded with a ribbon cutting featuring the UNAC/UHCP Executive Team and attending elected officials.
